At Care First Medical Weight Loss we want to help our patients become healthier and more active by achieving fast, effective and sustainable weight loss.

As there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution to obesity - we try to tailor our programs to ensure each individual’s success.  Contrary to popular opinion, obesity is not caused by simply eating too much or being lazy.

Obesity has many causes. We take a complete medical history and perform basic blood tests as well as Electrocardiograms in certain patients to better understand each patient’s overall health. We focus on the areas of  psychology, behavior, nutrition, metabolism, lifestyle and take into account other medical problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.

The number of medical conditions that improve with significant weight loss is too lengthy to full review. We do know that Diabetes, High blood pressure, High Cholesterol, Heart Disease, Acid Reflux, and Arthritis can improve dramatically with weight loss.

At Care First Medical Weight loss we are thrilled to either reduce or eliminate medications in our patients who achieve significant weight loss. We have never met a patient that likes to take more medications!

About Dr. Lahiri

Dr. Dev Lahiri graduated from Rutgers Preparatory School here in New Jersey in 1989 and then went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1993.  Dr. Lahiri received his medical degree in 1998 from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.  He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.  He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr.  Lahiri has been in private practice in Central New Jersey since 2001. In 2007, he developed a special interest in the field of Bariatric Medicine.  Bariatric Medicine is the specialty that focuses on the treatment of Obesity, Overweight and related medical conditions.  Dr. Lahiri has furthered his expertise in this area by attending a number of educational conferences by the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. He is board certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

During his time practicing Internal Medicine / Primary Care Medicine, he has treated thousands of patients whose medical conditions are either caused by or worsened by obesity. These conditions include Diabetes, High Blood pressure, Heart Disease, Arthritis, Acid Reflux, Depression, Fatigue, Infertility, Fatty Liver, Gallbladder Disease and even many types of cancer. This is by no means an all inclusive list of medical conditions that obesity causes or worsens. Dr. Lahiri finds that by helping his patients lose weight, he can help to treat many of the above conditions and is often able to reduce or stop medications needed to treat these diseases. Dr. Lahiri has never met a patient that isn’t thrilled to reduce to number of medications that are needed.

Although Dr. Lahiri has a special interest and expertise in the treatment of obesity, he appreciates all aspects of the practice of Internal Medicine.  He has also had a lot of experience in caring for the elderly.   He is currently the medical director of the Regency Heritage  Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Somerset where he also cares for many subacute and long term patients.

On a personal note, Dr. Lahiri lives and practices in the same town where he graduated high school.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.  He also enjoys jogging and skiing and tries to maintain an active lifestyle.

He was able to achieve a significant weight loss following one of his center’s meal replacement plans and tries to focus on maintaining a healthy weight with diet and exercise.
